    Dear Suzanne,

Here is an opportunity for you to consider or pass along to a friend or colleague. You can opt out of these emails, however keep in mind that in so doing, you are opting out of ALL APN-NJ emails. I clearly mark these "Job Op" in the subject line so you can delete if you are not interested. Our vendors are financially helping to support our mission, so if we can help them find a job candidate, that would be a win win!

    Best,
    Suzanne

Pelorus Elder & Behavioral Health is currently recruiting:

    • To add one full-time Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner to join our thriving private practice, consisting of 3 Board Certified Psychiatrists, 7 Psychiatric NP’s, and 4 PA’s.
    • We would alternatively consider hiring a part-time or per-diem candidate for a minimum of 3 days/week, which would include Friday, plus two of Tues/Wed/Thurs
    • New graduates are welcome

    Full time position:

Duties are primarily located in Morris and Somerset counties (i.e. Morristown, Mendham, Basking Ridge, Bridgewater, etc) or Mercer and Somerset Counties (i.e. Princeton, Hamilton, Montgomery, Hillsborough)

The successful candidate will be responsible for initial and follow-up Psychiatric consults in select assisted living and skilled nursing facilities.

Daily patient encounters will be approximately between 11 to 15, depending on the mix of initial vs. follow-up services.   Only light clinical documentation is required - just initial and follow-up progress notes.  There is minimal bureaucracy or busy-work: no H&P’s, no “discharge summaries”, no “treatment plans”, no “treatment team meetings” or “rounds”.  We use streamlined, one page note templates which facilitate an efficient workflow.

All of our clinicians perform the exact same duties, so together we have refined our processes to be as efficient and pleasant as possible.  There are no hospital-based services, no admissions, no discharges, minimal administrative responsibilities beyond the described clinical documentation, and billing submission.

Participation in our telephone-based on-call schedule will consist of about 1 weeknight in 7 and less than one weekend/month.  Call is via phone only.  There are no on-call rounds, no admissions (or admission orders), no discharges (or discharge orders).   Phone calls during on-call shift are infrequent: during most on-call shifts, there are zero phone calls received.

Daily work schedule is flexible, position affords much autonomy/independence – but at the same time, support and assistance is always available to you from our three psychiatrists and colleagues.

Experience prescribing and monitoring psychotropic medications is preferred, but we are willing to train the right candidate.

Compensation:   We offer very competitive compensation - salary from $125,000 and upward (based on experience/resume), with annual increases, and available productivity bonuses, as well as the option of full health benefits, a retirement plan, 4 weeks PTO, 3 CME days with stipend and/or reimbursement for license renewals, and national Holidays off.

    About Pelorus:

Established in 2009, Pelorus is the full time private practice of Dr. Matthew Barnas - board certified in Geriatric and Adult Psychiatry.  Dr. Barnas completed his Geriatric training at Yale University, his TMS training at Duke University.  He was the Chief Resident at New Jersey Medical School prior to that.  Some of his past positions include being the Associate Director of Geriatric Psychiatry at Overlook Medical Center, Chief of Geriatric Psychiatry at Runnells Specialized Hospital, and Chief of Geriatric Psychiatry at the East Orange V.A.

Dr. Unnati Patel is board certified in Adult Psychiatry.  She joined Pelorus in 2014, after being the Director of the Psychiatry Consultation service at RWJ Somerset Medical Center for 5 years.  Prior to that she was the Chief Resident of Psychiatry at New Jersey Medical School.

Dr. Deborah Ocasio is board certified in Adult Psychiatry, and also completed her training at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School, the same program as Dr. Barnas and Dr. Patel.  Prior to joining Pelorus, Dr Ocasio was an attending on the consultation and inpatient Psychiatry services at Morristown Medical Center.  Prior to that, she was the Chief Resident of Psychiatry at New Jersey Medical School.

We are a very strong, successful, and expanding group.  You will have the full support of 3 Psychiatrists, as well as the collegiality of our current NP’s and PA’s as well.  We are looking for the right candidate to join our team and share in our continued growth!

Drs. Barnas, Patel, and Ocasio will all serve as Collaborating Physicians.
