    NJ Memory & Behavioral Care

NJ Memory & Behavioral Care is currently recruiting:

    • One full time Psychiatric Advance Practice Nurse to join our thriving Psychiatry group practice. We specialize in treating geriatric and medical patients, as well as the general adult population.

Full time position: The successful candidate will spend:

    • 2 days per week providing outpatient Psychiatric services in our two office locations (one day in Cedar Knolls, one day in Springfield mainly performing follow-ups with some initial evaluations). Dr. Barnas will be very familiar with these office patients, and he will gladly assist as needed.
    • 3 days per week in select skilled nursing facilities performing both initial and follow-up consultations. Both Dr. Barnas and Dr. Patel will be familiar and happy to assist with these patients. The schedule and hours are flexible, and can be tailored to your preference.

Daily patient encounters will be between 10 to 15, depending on the mix of initial vs. follow-up services. We use streamlined, one page note templates which facilitate efficient workflow. We only “make recommendations” in our consults (rather than “write orders”).

There are no hospital-based services, no admissions, no discharges, minimal paperwork or administrative responsibilities beyond clinical documentation and billing submission. Participation in our on-call schedule will consist of 1 weeknight in 7 and 1 weekend per 5 weeks – this is via phone only (no rounds). Typically, no phone calls are received during a call shift. For those few calls that do come in, they are during waking hours, never overnight.

This position affords much autonomy/independence – but at the same time, support and assistance is always available from our two board certified psychiatrists.

    Compensation:

Choice of “Independent Contractor” or “Employee” contract structure is available. We offer above market reimbursement up to $145,000 for Independent Contractors (based on resume/experience), PTO, Holidays.

    About NJMBC

Established in 2009, NJMBC is the full time private practice of Dr. Matthew Barnas - board certified in Geriatric and Adult Psychiatry. Dr. Barnas completed his Geriatric training at Yale University, and was the Chief Resident at New Jersey Medical School prior to that. Some of his past experiences include being the Associate Director of Geriatric Psychiatry at Overlook Hospital, Chief of Geriatric Psychiatry at Runnells Hospital, and Chief of Geriatric Psychiatry at the East Orange V.A. He is active on the teaching faculty at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School and Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School.

Dr. Unnati Patel is board certified in Adult Psychiatry. She joined NJMBC in 2014, after being the Director of the Psychiatry Consultation service at Somerset Medical Center for 5 years. Prior to that she was the Chief Resident of Psychiatry at New Jersey Medical School.

Michelle Matro, PA-C and Samantha Meilands, PA-C both joined NJMBC in 2015. Michelle previously had a few years of experience working on an inpatient Geropsychiatry hospital unit. Samantha was hired as a new graduate of her PA program.

We are a very successful and rapidly expanding group. We foster a friendly, straightforward, empowering culture – without politics, or layers of bureaucracy. Our clinicians are also able to enjoy an excellent lifestyle balance in their private life.

We are looking for the right Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner candidate to join our team and share in our continued growth.

Dr. Barnas and Dr. Patel will serve as collaborating physicians for this position.
